Later, when the river changed course during a flood, the devastation of the flood quickly discouraged residents and the site was abandoned by later floods as it took its current course.

We couldn't complete all the things we moved and we still have to hire a small truck. Someone else than me picked up the trailer and wanted everything processed and ready for transport. The 24 hours start at 8 am and take 2 hours after that, but we still have to pick them up.

The receptionist / customer care assistant was rude, not friendly or informative, never smiled and was hungry and just upset because we wanted to hire a truck. She is rude and needs to stop working in public and think about a new job. We cancelled our app and returned to the place we have been since and to which we have still not returned. They are not friendly and informative and need to stop and think about new jobs.

The history of this city is closely interwoven with the history of the US Army, Missouri and the Great Plains. The town was registered in August 1856 and named after the troops stationed nearby to protect it from Indian raids. Members of the Lewis and Clark's expedition, buried on a rock here in 1804, were probably the first settlers in what is now South Sioux City. In 1856 Stanton interpreted the place name in Covington near the bend of the Missouri.
